Equestria is a horse event held in Tarbes each year, this was the 20th anniversary, with the admission charge being only 3€ it was a good way to spend a sunny afternoon.
Yesterday we (Mr & Mrs PMT) had our first ride out of the year, under clear blue skies and temperatures in the low to mid 20’s, seemed like a good idea.
We decided on a couple of locations that we had only ridden to once before, Hautacam and Luz Adriden, both ski stations and with the ski season over in these two places not many people about. This year Hautacam is the finish of stage 18 of Le Tour de France on 24th July, we passed a few cyclists on our way up the relentless climb, pleased we had an engine with our two wheels!
Then it was on to Luz Ardiden (finishing stage in 2011 Tour de France) as we wanted to get some photos of the road and valley. On our way down we spotted a family of marmots so had to stop and take some photos of them, we often see them in the mountains but just get a quick glimpse before they run away, today they just carried on with their business.
After more than half an hour watching the marmots it was up to Bareges to see how far we could get before reaching the snow and just after the ski station the road was blocked, incidentally they were still skiing, we even saw a hand glider fly over who was wearing skies.
